Business Community Declares JI’s Petroleum Levy Movement a National & Public Movement
ISLAMABAD, September 1, 2026 – In a significant development, the leadership of various trader associations in Islamabad has announced their full support for Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide movement against the petroleum levy, inflation, and Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
The announcement was made during a dinner hosted by the Pakistan Business Forum in honor of the business community, which was attended by JI Pakistan Deputy Ameer Liaqat Baloch and JI Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa as special guests.
‘Petroleum Levy Movement is a National Movement’
A large number of representatives from traders’ organizations across Islamabad’s commercial centers, including G-13, G-9, G-11, F-7, G-8, Tarnol, Bahara Kahu, Lehtrar Road, PWD, and Abpara, participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, trader leaders including Kashif Chaudhry, Tahir Chaudhry, Tahir Ayub, Owais Satti, and Zahid Qureshi, representing Pakistan Business Forum, Pakistan Traders Alliance, All Pakistan Traders Union, Pakistan Small Industries, Pakistan Computer Association, and Fruit & Vegetable Association, expressed their full support for the demand to abolish the petroleum levy and provide relief to the people.
The trader leaders expressed confidence in the leadership of Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and declared the ongoing movement against the petroleum levy, inflation, and IPPs as a “national movement.”
‘Joint Struggle Will Continue’
The business community announced their support for the nationwide strike called for September 3, pledging to continue their joint struggle for the resolution of traders’ issues, an end to the economic crisis, and the provision of relief to the masses.
The trader representatives emphasized that the current economic policies are severely affecting businesses and that the government must take immediate steps to address the concerns of both the business community and the general public.
‘Traders Stand with the People’
JI Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa thanked the trader community for their support, stating that the united struggle of traders and the public will force the government to accept their legitimate demands. “The petroleum levy is an unjust burden on every segment of society. Together, we will continue this struggle until real relief is provided to the people,” he said.
JI Pakistan Deputy Ameer Liaqat Baloch reiterated that the movement is not limited to any single group but is a public movement representing the collective will of the nation. “The traders have once again proven that they are the backbone of the economy and stand firmly with the people in this struggle,” he added.
