Administration Should Remove Containers, Application Submitted for D-Chowk Sit-in: JI Islamabad Ameer
ISLAMABAD, September 17, 2026 – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa has announced that preparations for the Islamabad March are complete. He stated that JI’s protest will be historic and completely peaceful, and that a sit-in will be held at D-Chowk until the demands are accepted.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, accompanied by JI Islamabad Secretary General Zubair Safdar, Deputy Secretary Tassawar Kazmi, and Secretary Information Rab Nawaz Malik, Randhawa said that last year the government extracted billions of rupees from the pockets of the people in the name of the petroleum levy.
‘Struggle Will Not Retreat from Demands’
The JI Islamabad Ameer stated that JI’s demand is clear: if the government wants to provide real relief to the people, it must abolish the petroleum levy. He added that during negotiations with the government, JI presented its position with solid arguments and also offered proposals for alternative revenue sources.
Randhawa emphasized that the call for the Islamabad March on September 20, given by JI Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, remains firmly in place. “People from across the country will reach Islamabad, and participation of hundreds of thousands is expected. JI’s protest will remain within constitutional, legal, and democratic limits,” he said.
‘Sit-in at D-Chowk Until Demands Accepted’
He stated that after the Islamabad March, the sit-in will continue at D-Chowk until the demands are accepted. “Jamaat-e-Islami is determined to achieve its demands and will not retreat from its struggle due to any pressure or obstacle,” he asserted.
‘Remove Containers, Keep Roads Open’
Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa demanded that the government keep Islamabad’s roads open and that the administration not block people’s paths by placing containers. “Containers should be removed immediately so that citizens do not face difficulties in movement,” he said.
He also revealed that JI has submitted an application to the administration for the sit-in at D-Chowk.
20 Administrative Committees, 50 Sub-Committees Formed
Randhawa informed that 20 administrative committees and 50 sub-committees have been formed for the arrangements of the Islamabad March. He urged the administration to cooperate with these committees so that basic facilities and other arrangements for participants can be ensured in a better manner.
He stated that the September 20 Islamabad March will be a major and historic gathering in the history of Islamabad. “JI Secretary General Zubair Safdar will be overall in charge of the sit-in arrangements,” he added.
All Political Parties Invited
The JI Islamabad Ameer said that leaders of all political parties will be welcomed at the sit-in, and workers of all political parties are also invited to participate in the Islamabad March and sit-in.
