Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan

An Ideological, Reformative, and Democratic Movement

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan is a comprehensive Islamic, ideological, social, and political movement founded by Syed Abul A‘la Maududi (رحمہ اللہ) on 26 August 1941. The movement aims to establish a society based on the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, ensuring justice, morality, and welfare for all.

Jamaat-e-Islami believes that:

Why is
Jamaat-e-Islami the Most Unique?

Jamaat-e-Islami is considered unique because it is not just a political party, but a complete ideological movement based on Islam. Its uniqueness can be understood through the following key points:

Ideological Movement

Jamaat-e-Islami is a movement for the establishment of religion.
Its foundation was laid by the Islamic thinker Syed Abul A‘la Maududi (RA) on 26 August 1941 in Lahore.
The caravan that began with 73 individuals and limited capital is today in the millions.
Not only in Pakistan, but throughout the world, its effects are felt.
In various countries of the world, Islamic movements have benefited from the thought of Syed Maududi (RA).

Global Influence

The Islamic thinker Syed Abul A‘la Maududi (RA) presented the concept of the establishment of religion and of Islam as a complete code of life.
The thought he presented regarding the dominance of religion and the implementation of the Islamic system, in the form of literature and practical struggle, not only influenced the Muslims of the Indian Subcontinent, Bangladesh, Kashmir, and Sri Lanka and changed the direction of their lives, but also produced global effects.

Democratic Values

Jamaat-e-Islami believes in the revolution of leadership while using constitutional and democratic means.
For this purpose, within the Jamaat there exists a system of ideal democracy and consultative governance (Shura), in which the electoral process is followed from the Central Ameer to the Union Council Ameer, and the members of the Jamaat, while exercising their independent opinion, carry out the election of the Ameer at every level.
In this context, Jamaat-e-Islami has the distinction of being, in the true sense, the only democratic party in the country.

Non-Hereditary Leadership

It is the distinction of Jamaat-e-Islami that there is no monopoly of any family, individual, or any group within it.
Its foundation has been laid on consultation (Shura); through democratic methods, leadership at every level and the consultative councils are elected, and the system is run through mutual consultation.
Here, no one is offered a position at any level merely because of being a member of the family of an Ameer; rather, the members, with free will, choose their leadership, in which sincerity for Allah, piety, righteousness, and competence are kept in view.

Free from Corruption

Jamaat-e-Islami has the distinction that both insiders and outsiders trust it and entrust their trusts to the Jamaat.
Where Jamaat-e-Islami believes in character building, there also exists within it a system of accountability, which becomes active automatically and, in case of any flaw, performs the duty of rectification and reform.
This is the reason that within the Jamaat as well as outside it, wherever trusts are handed over to the affiliates of the Jamaat, they set an example of trustworthiness and integrity.
