Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad, Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa, has said that Jamaat-e-Islami has formally launched its public outreach and membership campaign from today. Over the next 20 days, one hundred thousand people will be made members of Jamaat-e-Islami, including 50,000 women and 50,000 men. He stated that Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad will go to every sector, neighborhood, and home to make people a part of their struggle so that the public can be organized and a strong voice can be raised for their rights. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad office. On this occasion, Secretary General Zubair Safdar, Deputy Ameer Malik Abdul Aziz, Information Secretary Aamir Baloch, and Zonal Ameer Tahseen Ahmed Khalid were also present.
Nasrullah Randhawa said that Islamabad is currently plagued by severe problems. For the past two weeks, the city has been affected by various restrictions and security arrangements, causing immense difficulties for citizens. The suspension of Metro and other transport services has severely impacted public mobility, while the closure of inter-district and goods transport has disrupted the supply of essential commodities, leading to a significant increase in prices. He said that the supply of construction materials has also been affected, halting development work, and citizens are facing intense hardship.
The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad stated that the only effective solution to the problems of Islamabad’s citizens is the immediate holding of local government elections. He alleged that the government is avoiding holding local government elections through various excuses, due to which citizens are being deprived of basic facilities. He said that without elected local representatives, the problems of the federal capital cannot be solved, and the people should be given their right.
He further said that inflation in the country has doubled, and the prices of petroleum products are being continuously increased. The government has further increased the levy on petrol, while preparations are being made to impose taxes on solar systems and the use of sunlight, which is an additional economic burden on the people. He said that the security of guests is important, but shutting down the entire Islamabad under its cover is not appropriate under any circumstances. Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its struggle to protect the rights of the people and solve their problems.
