The loss of human lives after every rain becoming routine is extremely alarming, says Nasrullah Randhawa

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad, Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa, visited the home of Mohsin Qureshi, the student who died yesterday after falling into a drain in Bahara Kahu (Korang Nullah), and expressed condolences and sympathy to his father, Munir Qureshi, and the family. He expressed deep grief and sorrow over this tragic incident, praying for the forgiveness of the deceased and patience for the bereaved family.

On this occasion, Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa said that the loss of innocent lives is an extremely sad and heartbreaking incident that has plunged the entire capital into mourning. He assured the affected family that Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad stands with them in this hour of grief and will continue to provide every possible support. He was accompanied by Zonal Nazim Ghulam Sarwar Tabassum, Deputy Nazim Tayyab Niaz Abbasi, Zafran Abbasi, Aamir Shaheen, and Kamran Abbasi.

Expressing deep concern and regret over the repeated occurrence of such tragic incidents during rains in the capital, he said that this tragedy is clear evidence of the incompetence, negligence, and poor planning of the ICT and other relevant administrative institutions. He said that the loss of human lives after every rain becoming routine in a federal capital like Islamabad is extremely alarming. It is regrettable that the 1122 officials, despite being present at the scene, did not provide assistance.

The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad said that open drains, poor drainage systems, lack of protective walls and grilles, and the absence of proper warning signs at dangerous locations constitute criminal negligence on the part of the administration. He said that if timely safety measures had been taken, two innocent lives would not have been lost today.

Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa demanded that the CDA, district administration, and other relevant authorities immediately install protective grilles, walls, and warning boards at all dangerous drains, rainwater channels, and open spaces across Islamabad, including Bahara Kahu, to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.

He further said that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the primary responsibility of state institutions, and any kind of negligence in this regard is absolutely unacceptable. He demanded that the federal government and district administration conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and take action against the responsible officials.
