If Long March Comes, Islamabad Will Give It a Full Welcome, Says JI Islamabad Ameer
ISLAMABAD, September 11, 2026 – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Islamabad Ameer Nasrullah Randhawa has stated that instead of providing relief to the people during the Iran-US war, the government imposed an additional burden on them through the petroleum levy.
Addressing a press conference at the JI Islamabad office, Randhawa revealed that Rs. 150 billion more was collected in the budget than the allocated levy target. He added that despite collecting approximately Rs. 500 billion in levies over past years, not a single oil refinery was upgraded as required.
“The purpose of the petroleum levy was to upgrade refineries, but this money has become a means of burdening the people. The government and bureaucracy have failed to answer our questions during negotiations,” he said.
The press conference was also attended by JI Youth President Suhaib Usman, Secretary Political Affairs Aamir Baloch, and Secretary Information Rab Nawaz Malik.
‘Government Must Stop Looting the People’
Randhawa stated that the continuous increase in petroleum product prices has made life miserable for the common man. “The government must stop looting the people and reduce its own extravagant expenditures,” he demanded.
He announced that JI has decided to continue its struggle until the people receive real relief. “Tomorrow, a major women’s protest — the largest in Islamabad’s history — will be held at Abpara Chowk, where thousands of women will raise their voices for their rights,” he said.
“The government will ultimately have to bow before the facts and public pressure,” he asserted.
‘Long March Participants Are Our Guests’
The JI Islamabad Ameer stated that participants of the Long March arriving in Islamabad are “our guests,” and JI will accord them a full welcome and hospitality to the best of its ability.
“If Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman announces his arrival in Islamabad, we will give him a warm welcome as well,” Randhawa said.
He concluded by saying that when petrol becomes cheaper, the people will prosper, the wheel of the economy will turn, and the common man will receive real relief.
